Time-Lapse Concrete Pour of St. William's Slab Foundation

posted by Michael Raia

A 900-cubic yard concrete pour took place this week at St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock, TX, and it was a sight to see. So what does over 90 truckloads of concrete poured in a little under 12 hours look like? Click the video link above to watch a time lapse of the action, which started at midnight.

After the boom crane deposits the wet concrete inside the formwork, it's vibrated, leveled and smoothed. Next come the riders whose fan-like blades agitate the dried surface of the concrete to allow moisture below the surface to escape. At the end of the video you can see that control joints are cut all across the foundation to control cracking.

Gibson Concrete and Chasco Constructors worked together on the pour.
