Keeping pace with technology is more strenuous than football practice in August: it seems we have to stop for sustenance after every forty-yard technological sprint. We are pleased that our professional organization, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) requires continuing education in technology, particularly as it affects health, safety and welfare. We are always open to innovation, but our job is to watch out for our client’s interest when constructing; therefore, we use time-tested assemblies unless otherwise required to solve the problem, and only after considerable education on the product. For systems concerning audio/visual communication, specialty lighting, power and acoustical needs we rely on our consultant team which has daily contact with the changing technology.
