Concordia University Texas | Competition Gymnasium & Field House
In 2006 Concordia University in Austin, Texas sold their entire urban campus and purchased an existing hi-tech campus on 360 acres of conservation land in west Austin. JGA was selected to design the new sports facilities for Concordia. The timing of the entire University relocation was critical and unprecedented. There was simply no “Plan B”. Classes would end in May of 2008 at the old campus and would begin in September of 2008 at the new campus. In fact, pre-season women’s volleyball games were scheduled in the new field house in advance of classes starting. The gymnasium / field house was completed about one month before the semester started, and the official dedication was held October 26, 2008. It includes a sub divisible competition basketball / volleyball court with bleacher seating, locker rooms, athletic training & offices, seminar rooms, a full size weight & fitness room, and equipment storage.
