Jackson Galloway FGM Architects* is the Austin office of FGM Architects. We collaborate with our clients to create highly functional spaces that are thoughtfully designed and cost-effective. At the outset of each project we make an effort to get to know our client – your unique story, perspective, challenges and dreams. This relationship between Design Team & Owner allows us to arrive at creative solutions that reflect your functional needs, unique character, situation and physical context. We then guide our clients through the budget, schedule and quality constraints of the construction industry, acting as your advocate in every phase of your project.

Our Beginnings

Our founding principals John Jackson, AIA and Bob Galloway, AIA began working together in college and name among their early mentors AIA Gold Medalists Fay Jones, Charles Moore, and Cambridge Seven Associates. John worked and studied under both Jones and Moore during his early career and their rich legacy of distinctive American architecture continues to inform our studio’s design sensibilities. Bob gained a wealth of experience working on educational, athletic, commercial, community, aquarium and transportation facilities early in his career at Cambridge Seven Associates, Inc. in Massachusetts. The American Institute of Architects awarded Cambridge Seven the 1993 Gold Medal while Bob was serving the firm as an associate in charge of their technical review process. In 1997 John and Bob opened their practice in Austin and have maintained a small agile staff since the beginning.

75% of our staff members have been working together for more than 7 consecutive years. We are a tight-knit team of professionals with individual areas of specialization that we bring to bear on each project at hand. Our small firm size allows direct principal involvement on each project, offering our clients all the experience and expertise of a large firm, in the personal attention and service of a small firm.

What are Architects?

In essence, we are place makers. We design places for people to inhabit as they work, sleep, eat, play, gather and retreat. We are convinced that the quality of the physical places where people experience their life has a huge impact on the quality of that life; and so we dedicate the work of our hands to creating more beautiful, durable, safe, useful, healthy places for our community. But that is not a simple task. There are many hats we must wear along the way to accomplish our work. An architect is an explorer, a researcher, an artist and a presenter. We are problem solversteam coordinators, analystsplanners and inspectors. A good architect is also a scientist in the field of building methods & technology, and a seasoned guide to the construction industry.

How can we help you?

Tell us your story. What needs are you experiencing? What are your facility priorities? We can help you determine your real constraints and how to work within them. What is your dream for the future? We will work with you to develop a long-term master plan that will inform decisions about what you need now vs. later and how a specific project fits (or does not fit) into that plan.

We have been practicing architecture for a long time. It’s what we love to do; and we continually improve the tools and methodologies we use in our professional service.

Our Mission

… is to exceed our client’s expectations as we provide architecture that is beautiful, authentic, timeless, and technologically superior.
